F&Qs

Do we have a cellar door?

Unfortunately not at the moment but it is something we are hoping to work towards over the next 12months. Currently the best way to try our products before you buy is to come see us at a local market near you or visit one of our stockists.

Why certified organic?

We wanted to create a brand and a product that not only tasted great but that was both free of chemicals and ecologically sustainable. Hence all our distilled products are all Australian Certified Organic (ACO) with the organic BUD logo. This means that the ingredients used are grown and processed without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or GMOs. It also means that the product you purchase is supporting farmers and producers who aim towards ecologically sustainable practices. Additionally, this includes all our cleaning methods of equipment and surfaces are used with natural cleaning products and are chemical free. We also try as much as possible to use recycled and/or biodegradable packaging for our products.

What is your ethanol base?

We use certified organic sugarcane ethanol as our base. There are a number of benefits to using sugarcane over other grain derived ethanols such as corn, barley and wheat.

Sugarcane based ethanol has a higher energy balance than other grain-based ethanols, meaning it takes less energy to convert the crop into ethanol than the amount of energy that is expended for its consumption. This is essentially due to the fact that the sugar cane is already in a raw form once cropped, whereas other grains need to be harvested and turned into the starch; the sugar, first before it can be distilled, thus reducing operation costs.

Another reason is sugarcane based ethanol produces nearly twice as much ethanol as corn-based ethanol. Hence you need less product to start with. The same crop can be harvested multiple times from one planting.

Thirdly, the company we obtain this sugarcane ethanol has a sustainable process whereby the by products of the ethanol production are used for liquid fertilisers or stockfeed for farmers.

Lastly, it provides are very smooth base for our gin, which allows the flavours of our botanicals to really shine through.

Do you use nuts in any of your gin?

We don't use any types of nuts in our gins. However, many of the products we use have been preprocessed into a cut or powdered form so we can't guarantee that they haven't come into contact or been processed on equipment that has had nuts prior to arriving to us.
